The most fun camp ever!

Hello. Last, last week the year 5/6 went to camp. We had to wake up really early in the morning, when we got to school we all met up under the canopy to wait for the other people to come. when they finally came we put our bags and suitcase into the bus or into the two vans. Our red group went to the van. The first destination was Waipu beach it was a long car ride there. But when we got there it was raining and it was windy, We had our morning tea first then we walked along the beach but sadly we couldn’t go in the water. when we finished we got back but we went to the bus. We drove all the way to our campgrounds. It was a 2 hour drive I slept for a little then and we finally got to the camp grounds. we all got our cabin key and put our suitcase and backpacks in our room. Then we all met in the kitchen for dinner we had fish and chips for our dinner and it was very good. Finally we got changed into our PJ’s we didn’t take a shower because we were all tired. Then we said goodnight and turn off the lights and went to sleep.

My favorite day was day 3 which we took a 2 hour drive to the sand dunes and the maori carving museum. First we got changed into our swimming togs and to a jet boat to the sand dunes. We got there really fast and took a board and went boogie boarding on the sand. When we finished we took the jet boat back and got changed back into our cloths. We met our tour person and she is very nice and took us through the carvings my favourite one is kupe. My favourite here was the 4d movie about kupe and his adventures. After that we went home and had mac and cheese for dinner and took a shower and changed and went to bed.

Smart Emails

For cybersmart  we learnt how to label Emails. Some of the things that a Email must have is… There has to be a greeting at the start, a specific subject, some activity to do with the subject, something helpful and positive and last but not least a sign of.  I hope this will help you to remember where to label your Email.

How to Keep safe on the Internet

How to stay safe on the internet

  1. I a person sends an Email that makes you feel unsafe screenshot it and send it to the teacher or if you are at home share it with your parents.
  2.   If you see a person in your class not sending nice comments you should tell the teacher or see why they are send those comments.
  3. If you get a blog comment that makes you very uncomfortable or unsafe you should not repley because they will know how you are.
  4. Also if you get any nasty comment don’t put in your real name and your age because they will know how old you are and your real name.

The War

Last week was Anzac Day. But it was no normal Anzac Day, because, we were recreating what the New Zealand army was doing in the trenches. At first I thought it was going to be a normal Anzac day, but when I peaked into Manukau’s slide door there was string all over the class room! All of us had to crawl under the string. Most of the people had carpet burns, scrunched back, and were tired. At the end of the day I still had swimming and I didn’t know how would that go.

I liked that we had to crawl under the strings because to me it was like a responsibility to not go over the string because you will get shot [not really. ]

I disliked how we had to work under the ropes, because we had to crunch up like a turtle hiding his head.  Most of us were under a chair or table even though I was under a table most of the time.

Athletics Day

On Monday it was athletics day at school. We had activities like high jump, long jump, shot put and sprints.

My favourite  one was the sprints because it was challenging.

Something I want to get better at is high jump because I don’t jump high enough.

Koru Art

Last week it was Maori Language Week. We made some koru art and we used cold colors and warm colors.

I like how I used the bendy lines because it looks good with warm colors.

Next time I would make the cold colors match direction.

Lego Tower

Last week we made a Lego tower and we tested it to see if it would survive an earthquake to see if it would fall or not fall. We made two Lego towers and both of them look similar but one was thicker and the other one is taller  and the first one lasted shorter than the other one time.

I like that they were both different because it would make it more fun if you build something different than just build the same thing.

Next time I could add more detail on the tower because it looks too basic.

Volcano art

Last week we had a visit from some people from the Corban Estate Art Centre in New Zealand and they were amazing! We made some 3D volcano art

I like the smoke in the volcano because it fits well in the volcano.

Next time I would remove  the ocean because it is so tiny on the boat and there is already an ocean.
